The critically endangered Swift Parrot migrates across Bass Strait between Tasmania and mainland Australia. To help support this species, I pledge to either travel across Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tas wearing a Swift Parrot costume and conduct local conservation work, donate my hair to Wigs for Kids and dye it Swift Parrot colours, or bake parrot-themed cupcakes for food-relief organisations.
I’ll bake organic, rainbow, Swift Parrot-themed cupcakes for the team at OzHarvest and Food Bank, and work on various food rescue initiatives with them for one week. According to OzHarvest, nearly 90% of food-relief agencies in Australia reported not having enough food to meet their demands!
My hair is the longest it has ever been. I'll chop it off and donate it to Wigs for Kids - a program for young people suffering from Alopecia Areata-related hair loss. I’ll also dye my (remaining) hair Swift Parrot colours... crimson-red, bright green, purple-red, dark blue, yellow... !
I'll travel across Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tas (at own expense) donning a Swift Parrot costume, in recognition of the migration these birds undertake between Tassie and mainland Australia every year. I'll then spend a few days working with CVA on their Swift Parrot conservation initiatives.
