Edge Pledge TV Episode 23

The weekly Edge Pledge update is here. Welcome to Edge Pledge TV episode 23 where we take you deep into the open-woodland forest of a wildlife-fundraising platform and we unpack all we are doing as we try to end extinction with you and have some laughs along the way. This episode Sam Marwood talks about:

  1. Over $20,000 raised this season
Donations and challenges are still rolling in. We have hit the $20,000 and it is rising each day still.
You can continue to do challenges anytime on Edge Pledge, we have a focus on August/September each year, but you can sign up. We have another environment organisation about to sign up as well - this time from SA.

  2. $10,000 worth of Google AdWords a month
We also have $10,000 worth of Google AdWords a month and we have a volunteer through Vollie, Nicholas Ho, who is a wiz on this stuff helping us to target people. So when you search challenge we pop up. So we are testing this more to see if it will drive more traffic.

  3. 50/50 progress
We are developing a new feature where we can fundraising for a school/community group and wildlife at the same time. 50% goes to the school and 50% to wildlife. We are continually unpacking with people in the industry who are loving it. Which is giving us more and more confidence to keep building this. We have a volunteer helping to develop content and the documentation explaining how it works. Our web developer is devising solutions and we are head hunting schools.

  4. Continuing to learn what Edge Pledge is about
The point of these weekly updaters is to let you in behind the scenes of how we are running Edge Pledge. This next 6 months is going to be really interesting and we want to provide a stack of value.
What we are learning is that we need to add a human element to donations (hence the 50/50) but also we are learning that we need to provide more value to our environment partners. At the moment we help their followers take action to raise funds, but there are a heap of other things we could do to give tangible actions to their followers. We could be the organisation that brings the fun!

Package of actions for environment organisations and their followers
a) Standard Edge Pledge
b) 50/50: help schools raise funds
c) Environment curriculum - My Green World
d) Vollie - we could work with these guys to get more people supporting our environment partners
e) Conservation Guide who are all about physical world volunteering for conservation
f) Geddup who are about activating followers.

  1. Giving a wrap up to our environment partners
Over the next few weeks we are going to get back in touch with our environment partners and let them know how they went and get their feedback on what they loved and didn’t about this season. I’ll give you their feedback. Also I will ask them what we could do about activating their followers more.

  2. Sam’s challenge
I raised $570 so a big thanks to those who voted. Funds go to the Southern Brushtail Rock Wallaby
I am now going to be recording an album of my own songs!! I am excited and nervous. My voice is average and my lyrics are terrible and I only know a few song progression ideas - similar to Paul Kelly! What will my style be? I can tell you are all pumped.

  3. CEO of Zoos Victoria Jenny Gray
Spoke with Jenny Grey the other day about her doing a challenge. She is keen, but also keen to understand how she integrates Edge Pledge into Zoos Victoria program and really make it work. So it is great to have someone like her, who is also the President of the global organisation improving Zoos so it is going to be great to work through these concepts with her
